Not only is a good Cross Peen hammer one of the best ways to spread material to make something like a spatula, they also make a great flat faced hammer for forging and bladesmithing. This style of Cross Peen is one of my favorites primarily due to the more heavily radiused flat die as well as the wider cheeks which allow more contact on a handle to ensure a stronger handle fit unlike a more traditional Cross Peen.
